The Social Security administration itemizes impairments for which benefits may be received.

The Residual Functional Capacity (RFC) is used by the Social Security Administration in order determine a combination of impairments which may disable the client to such an extent that they may not work.  The first level of evaluation is a consideration of whether you might be able to perform a sedentary job rather than your prior job.  In order to be qualified to receive benefits you must not be able to perform even a sedentary job.

All symptoms and disabilities must be included in your medical records together with your diagnosis, prognosis, and complete description of your limitations.  Do not limit yourself just to the physical limitations also address any neurological, cognitive, and/or psychological impairments. If your medical records do not include this information it cannot be used in the determination of your eligibility.  This information should appear in two places, in your RFC AND in your medical records.  Any symptoms, limitations, or disabilities not recorded by your physician will NOT BE INCLUDED.
